The rain stayed off last Friday evening for a fantastic pre-season run out for the team on the 4G at Chiswick RFC. A great squad turn out, plus also good to see a lot of support on the touch line. The whole squad got on for one of the three 25-minute sessions held, and Stags more than held their par against our neighbours Barnes from level 4. The try tally was about 4-6 to Barnes in the end, but we got some good exposure to all facets of the game – attack, defence, line outs, and scrummaging. Although scrums went to uncontested sometime in the third session, it was a pleasant surprise to find out that it was due to opposition restrictions! Thanks to Oli Bryant and Jake Farnworth the coaches, and I know they got a lot out of this blow out and were pleased with the performance of the boys. Well done all. Thanks to Barnes for the warm up, and we wish them well in their National League 2 season this coming year.
Next pre-season warm up game is also at Chiswick RFC, (Duke Meadows, Dan Mason Drive, Chiswick W4 2SH), Saturday 19th August 2023 against Eton Manor, from 11 a.m. onwards. Do please come on down if you can, support the team, and enjoy a beer or two! Onwards and upwards.
